Día Internacional del Jazz
Origen: En noviembre de 2011, durante la Conferencia General de la UNESCO, la comunidad internacional proclamó que el 30 de abril sería desde entonces el Día Internacional del Jazz. Siendo una forma sensibilizar, sobre todo a la juventud, acerca de los valores universales del jazz.
Una efeméride que pretende sensibilizar al público sobre las virtudes de la música jazz como herramienta educativa y como motor para la paz. Durante esta jornada se realizan miles de actuaciones de jazz con entradas gratuitas en casi los 200 países participantes, en especial en la ciudad anfitriona de este evento.
El jazz significa libertad, diálogo, solidaridad y ayuda mutua. Y estos son algunos de los valores fundamentales de la humanidad. Hoy en día el jazz sigue siendo una fuente de inspiración para millones de personas que luchan por el respeto y la dignidad humana. A lo largo de su historia, el jazz ha pasado de ser una simple música de baile popular a una compleja forma de arte. Hoy en día el jazz no es sólo de un estilo de música, sino de que contribuye también a la construcción de sociedades más inclusivas.
